How about negociating with a supermarket? Most don't open until 10 or 11, but their cafes usually open a bit earlier. No parking problems. I'm sure people would be happy to pay a couple of quid for the privilage of parking (could go to a charity of the supermarkets choice) rather than put up with the c**p from the wardens at Queen Square. Also good PR for the supermarket.
Waitrose in Keynsham?

Would it be worth approaching one the bus companies to use the park and rides around Bristol, the only catch could be that may have to pay and have marshals to put people in to spaces.

One of the Edition 38 (Vag scene) local meets, happens at/next to Krispy Kreme in Avonmeads. There's also a Costa - not sure what time these are both open... Lots of space though and no regulations.

It's sad that the gathering has outgrown the square but I struggle to think of another venue that would have anywhere near the same appeal.
I'm sure the only reason it's been allowed to go on for so long is that there's no "organiser" for the council to throw expensive licensing, insurance, H&S and other bureaucratic crap at to force into stopping (since BCC don't directly gain any revenue from it they'd certainly try their luck, with no responsible party to aim such efforts at, it's very difficult for them to either profit from or stop the meets.)
The nature of the Queens Square meet makes it a perfect match for the venue IMO. It's grown beyond what the old Avenue Drivers Club could ever have expected and the idea of hundreds of rare, interesting and/or historic vehicles all turning up in a public place that makes such a great setting with no real organisation or publicity behind it is marvellous.
In spite of the councils meddling (a couple of traffic wardens is about all they can manage with nobody to pin responsibility for the meet on to...) I'd personally just keep going to the square as long as some others did, it would just be like many other car meets if it was in a supermarket car park. The venue and spontaneity of the monthly gathering are a large part of it's charm.

Gordano Services, not the busiest place on a Sunday morning.

Hi, ideally keep it in Bristol centre. How about Clifton downs by the observation area, parking on the road surrounding the downs, the car park by Thekla or the car park behind M Shed. We may have to pay for 2 hours parking but at least the option to park legally will be available. Finaly if the above aren't an option speak to the mall and have an area of the car park. Shops don't open until after 10 so plenty of space. I'm sure the mall would love it and promote it further. Thank you and Good luck. Wonderful event and it's the informalities that makes it special for Bristol.

The Downs is a fair shout, especially around by the water tower where hopefully we could park on the grass during the summer.

Ladies Mile, there's the Retreat Café at the top of the road that opens at 8am.

The Downs is pretty much a no go after seeing plenty of old bill action there and zero chance of parking on the grass, may be worth scoping out somewhere like this on a Sunday morning to see how busy it is?

Well, I was one of the original “cannons marsh” group, spoilt by a few idiots. IMHO if you were to move the venue to a random carpark or the downs for example, it would tempt more idiots to drive like tools!
